How this works
Each letter grade converts to a point value on the standard 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, and so on). Multiplying each course's grade points by its credit hours gives "quality points" - summing those and dividing by total credit hours gives your GPA.

This uses the most common US 4.0 scale. Some schools use slightly different point values (for example, some don't use +/- grades), so check your institution's official scale if you need an exact match.
